Ghost Whisperer – Season 4, Episode 22 – Endless Love – air date 8/11/09.
In this episode, Melinda is concerned with dealing with a dysfunctional family, a teen in crisis, and a possible vampire. Oh … yes, Melinda and Delia are also planning Melinda’s wedding!

Towards the beginning of this episode there is a marvelous scene where Melinda calls Eli, and ends up hanging up on him mid conversation when the young teenage girl in crisis shows up at the door of her shop. Eli calls Melinda back, and ends up hanging up on her when a friend from his past shows up. Very “Three Stooges”!

Melinda first note an issue when a young girl in Ned’s study group has a red eyed ghost appear at her side. When the young girl returns home, the house is empty – both her mother and her father are still out. She goes to her room, starts to study, and falls asleep. Her bedroom window opens, and a breeze comes through the curtains. (This is a second story window, BTW!).

The girl gets up (very much in a stupor), walks downstairs and out the door. When the girl’s mother gets home, she panics when she cannot locate her daughter. She calls Delia, who tells her that the girl left for home two hours ago! Delia, Melinda and Ned pick the mother up, and cruise the streets. They find the girl wandering the streets, still in a stupor, covered with red clay. She does not remember how she got there, and is adamant that she was just “sleepwalking”.

The next day at school Ned sees the girl at her locker. When she opens her locker, plumeria petals fall out, along with a swarm of moths. The girl goes into a classroom, and sits down next to a boy who is already there. She thinks he left the plumeria petals and the moths – and she is happy about this! The boy denies it, gets up in a huff and moves to the other side of the room. Once there, his head is surrounded by some kind of dust that makes his eyes red. He bolts from the room!

Melinda talks to the girl, who denies that she needs any help. She does not want the energy removed from around her. Melinda finally realizes that she is thinking ghost, while the girl is thinking the energy is that of a vampire – and she is happy about that, as she has bought into the vampire/eternal love scneario!

The girl’s mother sit down and have a talk with her – about their issues, and about giving the father a second chance. She feels that he does not deserve one, and runs up to her room. The energy comes in through the window again, and she begs it not to leave, following it out the window and into the cemetery.

Melinda has researched recent teenage deaths, in an effort to find out who the ghost is. It turns out that he used to go to the same school as the girl did, but moved about a year before. When she finds out that the girl is missing again, she heads for the cemetery, where the boy’s remains are held in a mausoleum.

She meets the ghost of the boy, who finally tells her where the girl is (he wanted the girl to die, so that they could be together). Melinda opens the door to the mausoleum and brings the girl out.

Melinda, Eli, Ned, the girl and her parents are together in the final scene, where the young boy walks into the light. The young girl decides to give her father a second chance.

Interesting information in this show – plumeria petals, sleep-walking, red clay, and the dust that went into the young boys eyes are all connected with vampires (although the dead boy was a ghost, and not a vampire).
