November of 2009 contains an important astrological influence, the Saturn-Pluto square. This arrangement occurs approximately once every 14 years, and so is somewhat unusual. It's not the only powerful astrological influence acting upon individuals and society at this time, but it is an important one.

This influence tends to create situations in which difficult determinations must be made. The power of sober judgment is much called into play, and decisions must be made about basic matters.

At the same time, this influence calls us all to draw boundaries that will define our lives. This is not an easy-going influence. Instead, it tends to force us to contend with thorny issues and come to some kind of definite conclusion. We seek closure and something definite under this influence, and are not satisfied with drifting or being uncertain.

However, none of this happens under entirely comfortable conditions. Delay, isolation, distrust, and a general sense of resistance also tend to be present under the influence of Saturn and Pluto, both of which are known as archetypes or symbols of difficulties. Many may be feeling thwarted in their efforts while these two combine powers. Really the only approach which will succeed under this combination is patience combined with a steady determination.
