We don’t need professional psychics, Tarot consultants or astrologers to give us most of the hot truth about Nadya Suleman. We don’t need intuition to agree that Octomom is more than a little quirky, immature and self-involved or that on the mental/emotional plane she’s got a loose wing. And she’s back in the news again as I write, talking about having more babies.

First let’s review the facts.

All 14 children have the same sperm donor via in-vitro implantation; her eggs and his sperm created embryos in the laboratory. One was implanted for the first child, the rest frozen, then thawed out for babies 2 through 14. Purportedly the “friend” donor is actually an ex-boyfriend who’s not at all pleased about her doing all this behind his back. We can’t really blame him for laying low. He didn’t even know she had all those embryos frozen for future pregnancies.

You may remember that with the first six (6) kids all seven of them were all living with Octomom’s mother. Nadya had no job, but did get a disability settlement from a work-related accident, plus on-going government assistance for three of the older children who have special needs such as autism.

So, let’s take a look at her astrological birth chart and find out what’s really going on here. Jane Valez-Mitchell on her show Issues came closest to the astro-truth. Jane, a 14-years-sober recovering alcoholic, tends to be super-intuitive about addiction problems. One night on her show Jane blurted out, “Is this woman addicted to babies, or what?!!” She’s the only news reporter who got that close to the actual situation. No, Jane, she’s not addicted to babies – exactly. It’s way more complicated than that.

With a Grand Trine (a triangle with planets on every corner) including the natal Sun in Cancer, Neptune in Scorpio and Saturn in Pisces, Nadya feels strong emotions and rapid-cycle mood swings almost every day 24/7. It’s tough to handle, especially with so little talent for organization or taking responsibility. For anything.

Does Nadya really love children so much she can’t stop?

Not really. Her original Angels-in-Waiting nannies were amazed at how little time she spent in the nursery rocking, feeding and bonding with the babies -- unless the cameras were rolling. She’d rather flee the whole situation and go shopping and make arrangements for installing an indoor Jacuzzi rather than a much needed security system; especially after three intruders breached the back yard. With Mercury in Leo, Nadya tends to think like a child.

And once they are children instead of babies, she creates no structure for them at all. It follows suit after her own unstructured life style. There is no regular bed time, the kids still bouncing of the walls at two in the morning. They eat as they please, do homework or don’t and wear whatever they can find on the floor. There have been many 911 dispatches to her address, as well as child welfare services -- some placed by the neighbors who noticed how dirty the kids were.

With the Sun in Cancer, Nadya actually does have some maternal instinct, but with Aquarius on the ascendant she’s determined to go her own way and do it all her own way . The problem is that she has no idea what “her way” is, except that it must be new & different; anything that’s shocking, eccentric and unheard of sounds like fun to Octomom. If it seems to be appalling to everyone else, especially her mother who has been footing most of the bills and lost her home in the process, so much the better.

With imaginative Neptune challenging Nadya’s communication skills (Neptune square Mercury in Leo), Nadya lies. She lies a lot. And the way she handles money, relationships along with balancing her desires against her realistic needs (Neptune square Venus in Leo) – it’s all firmly rooted in fantasyland Walt Disney style.

So cut to the chase: Why so many children?

On the intelligence meter, Nadya just isn’t the thinking-it-through kind o’ gal. With only two planets in air (Mars in Libra; Jupiter in Gemini) she tends to change her mind a lot and finds it difficult to make decisions she can actually follow through on. She does have the ability to plot and plan, but it all boils down to manipulation in order to serve her own whims.

With Neptune in a difficult square to Mercury & Venus in Leo -- pregnancy, babies, and kids fall into the fun & games category. Nadya does love kids. But she thinks she’s one of them, and someone else should take care of her, too. Examples of her innate immaturity is rampant. For instance, telling her in-vitro doctor to “just put ‘em all (8 embryos) in there” and later expressing the golly-gee-wow thought: “How was I supposed to know they would all grow?!”

So, what’s really going on?

It isn’t babies or children Nadya is addicted to; it’s pregnancy. With hard taskmaster Saturn in the 1st house opposing Pluto/Uranus in the 7th, Nadya has battled deep depression most of her life. And it’s quite likely that the only time she ever feels really happy is when she’s pregnant, the hormonal changes (and the extra attention) bringing her much more joy than difficulty.

In one interview we hear her adamant statement, “I loathe being pregnant.” Hmmm. And when her last pregnancy reached obvious degrees she told her mother she had a tumor. She told the world she was having half her uterus removed so she could definitely not have more babies; then later admitted she was merely have fibroids removed from the uterus which would have no effect whatsoever on her ability to carry more kids with in-vitro. Nadya lies. She lies a lot.

She was pregnant a combined total of 3.8 years out of the first five pregnancies which produced six children; 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2006 (twins). Just over 2 years later (27 months) Nadya deciding to use all eight of the remaining frozen embryos in one pregnancy. Her explanation to the media? “I had grown up an only child and always wanted a large family of my own.” Evidently she figured somebody out there would pay for everything.

What’s up with absence of a man in her life?

Nadya was married once; before she became pregnant by in-vitro for the first time. They tried for a baby the usual way, but for medical reasons she had much trouble conceiving. There was one ectopic pregnancy which just made matters worse. Then came the divorce.

The Moon rules pregnancy and motherhood, and her Capricorn Moon, already uncomfortable in that sign, is placed in a hard square to Mars in Libra. There is great desire for a stable, loving relationship; every bit as much as for pregnancy. If she couldn’t produce a stable marriage, she worked double shifts at a psychiatric hospital to earn the money for an exotic way to produce a baby. Determined to outmaneuver nature, she went to a “friend” and asked him to donate sperm.

He obliged by providing enough sperm so that if the first one didn’t “take”, there would be enough to keep trying. He never expected her to have 14 of his babies; he was never consulted. The astro-truth is that Nadya truly believed one day he would fall in love with her and become her partner in life – and a real father to all their children. All attempts to lure him into her out-of-control family have failed miserably. As to his identity, all we know is that he is a professional man who’s life would be ruined if the truth got out. Nadya says, “He’s probably scared. He would lose everything.”

The Neptune that keeps coming up is in Scorpio – famous for being the keeper of deep, dark secrets. Her oldest son, now 8 years old, is now asking several times a day who and where is his daddy. Nadya’s short-sighted plan is that if the guy doesn’t come around in the next 10 years she’ll tell him the whole story when he’s 18. Most likely he’ll beat her to the punch via the internet long before that, but we can’t discount the veiled threat that if daddy doesn’t come around by then she’ll supply the kids with his name, address and telephone number.

This is not a happy mother. This is an angry mother. Mars square the Moon has a nasty reputation for all sorts of domest6ic violence and abuse. There is little doubt that Nadya was an abused child – verbally, emotionally, physically and possibly sexually. By her own admission she a nasty temper of her very own. When one of her older children slapped her in the face on camera Octomom’s smiling reply was, “He must have my temper.”

It’s a lead pipe cinch that domestic rage played its part in the failure of her first marriage. Now, with fourteen kids underfoot patience can run pretty thin; that’s perfectly understandable. This calls for very mature parenting and that’s a very long reach for her. Octomom’s blind faith that “God will take care of everything” is not without potential for a miracle. Still, the consequences of her rash actions were heavy on her shoulders when she talked with Dr. Phil. He asked if she thinks she made a mistake. Her quiet and serious answer was, “I do.” She knows she’s in over her head.

What happens next?

With transiting Saturn (Lord of Karma) now in a hard square to her natal Moon in Capricorn (and quite soon making a solid hit on top of her Mars in Libra), Nadya’s trouble with depression is now deeper than ever and coupled with high anxiety levels. The burning desire for another pregnancy is mixed with a burning desire to be in an adult relationship and hoping for marriage. Suitors will appear; but not truly appropriate ones. The cycle will call up unresolved anger from as long ago as early childhood. And this kind of stress won’t be over until October 2012.

Mars turned retrograde in the sky in Leo on December 20, 2009, stirring up Nadya’s anger circuitry and multiplying it exponentially. Hopefully she’s working out every day to dissipate the rage in a healthy way. It’s got to go somewhere. Mars turns direct on March 10, 2010 and finally changes signs on June 8th. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride.

Sure, there will be circumstances to justify depression and anxiety as well as the anger, but they are the reflection, not the cause, of her feelings. The most difficult part is that for the next few years she will have to cross the streets of life without holding anyone’s hand. It’s time for Octomom to grow up; her level of maturity is being tested. And she will be forced to do whatever she decides to do – all alone. No outside help will be forthcoming. The Saturn cycle ends in October of 2012.

It will certainly be more difficult for her to “get a fix” by achieving another pregnancy. “More difficult” does not mean impossible. She would have to find a different donor and an in-vitro doctor who’s willing to risk his license to enable her addiction/obsession; and she doesn’t have enough money to entice a doctor to do whatever she wants him to. She doesn’t have any more embryos in the freezer.

That frantic 911 call where Nadya threatens suicide over and over and over again with her kids crying in the background should be taken seriously. This lady is in desperate need of professional help.

Is this another train wreck in the making?

Not necessarily. This is the best possible time for Nadya to seek professional counseling and/or psychiatric assessment (so long as there is talk therapy involved). Digging out the root of the intense pain and emptiness she keeps trying to self-treat with pregnancy goes with Saturn energy, not against it.

One more word on the natal Neptune square. This is a heads-up that addiction was a problem for the adults around her when she was a very little girl; probably alcoholism. The good news is that lots and lots of kids who grow up in that situation make a conscious decision not to ever go down that road. And perhaps Nadya never drinks at all and shuns drugs of all kinds. It’s easy for her to attract addicts into her life and that’s hard enough. But if she drinks or turns to drugs at all there is hidden trouble – the kind that sinks the strongest ship.

We wish her well and project that the increased stress will help her focus to the kids, putting their needs first at all times before her own.
