So it’s that time of the year again. We decorate, we share and we celebrate. It is a time for joy, but for many it can be a period of sadness. So how can we make this holiday happy and meaningful for us and others?

Let us SHARE

There are many ways to share other than monetarily.

Help someone in need, a neighbor, a friend or even a stranger. When you make that special meal, or bake those holiday cookies, think of putting a smile on someone’s face by sharing them.

Get involved in community projects such as toys for tots, helping out at a homeless shelter. Check with your local newspaper or news agencies for local charitable organizations looking for volunteers or donations.

Let there be PEACE

Cultivate peace by encouraging and empowering yourself with wise, positive, friendly thoughts.

Let there be JOY

Be unselfish and make someone other than yourself happy. Help them to decorate by using simple home made decorations. Many of my favorite decorations are home made, they are very festive and above all meaningful.

For those of us who live alone with no one to share the holidays with, solitude does not have to be loneliness. You can choose to be around people during this time by also volunteering and getting involved in community projects or just picking up the phone and calling someone you haven’t spoken to for a while. Both of you will be glad you did. The rewards will be great.
