Snakes

I had a dream that I had to jump into to marshy pit of snakes at the zoo. (In the dream, there was one of those jungle rides, however, it was much too real and scary to be an amusement park reaction.) I used google to read up on snakes, and it says snake is a difficult dream symbol because it is so widely interpreted among various cultures. Interpretations run the gamut from blood-curdling fear to wisdom and peace. These options are determined by literary history and folklore from different cultures, as well as personal experience. I am very afraid of snakes in life. In the the dream I felt afraid as well, but knew I had to do it anyway and that I was going to be okay. I guess I'll take it as a good dream! Any insight?

Delphine - I love to research on the Internet! As with you, sometimes it just gives me way too much information! The metaphysical interpretation of snake is transformation. (The cadeusis symbol in medicine is a snake wound around a staff.) The snake sheds his skin, not even really realizing it, because he has a new skin already. My thoughts here would be that you are going through a time of transformation - shedding your skin - and that you are about to start a new part of your life. Your path may be changing slightly, or you may be going deeper into a path that you are already on. This is a wonderful time for you! :) Bonnie

I find snake dreams to be pretty powerful and meaningful. Since the main emotion was fear that came up and also the knowledge that you had to do this and everything would be okay, I think is a sign that you were processing and facing fears and re-wiring old responses. The fears are faced and get worked out in a dream so the energy of the stored up fears don't manifest into reality.
