The Listener – ReCap – Season 1, Episode 107 – Iris – air date 7/16/09. In this episode Toby comes across a young faith healer by the name of Iris – they are called to the scene of an accident – a baby falling out of a window. As they make their way through the crowd to the baby, Toby and Oz see a young girl walk over to the baby, hold her hands over it, and then walk away. What Toby sees (that Oz doesn’t) is the golden aura emanating from Iris’ hands and surrounding the baby. Taken to the hospital to be checked out, the baby is fine.

Prior to this Toby and Oz were called to the scene of a jumper – a homeless man teetering on the precipice of a tall building. It turns out that Toby and Oz know the man, and that all he wants is a bed and some food for a few days. They get him admitted to the hospital.

Toby goes to talk to Iris, because he feels that she may be someone that has abilities similar to his, and he wants to know her. When he asks her what she does, and how she does it, she tells him that she holds her hands over people and allows God to work through her. She takes no credit – she feels that she is there to be a channel for the energy of Spirit.

Iris’ Uncle come up and hustles her away from Toby. (Her parents are dead, and her Uncle is her guardian.) Toby gets a flash of someone wanting to kill Iris. He goes back and talks to the Uncle, who basically blows him off.

Back at the hospital, the homeless man has been diagnosed with acute liver problems.

Toby does some checking on Iris and her Uncle, and notices a woman in one of the photos. He has seen her at the hotel where Iris is staying. He takes the picture to Iris to identify. Before she can do so, Iris’ Uncle comes in and tosses Toby out.

As Iris and her Uncle are getting off the elevator and getting ready to do a public healing session, Toby sees a man coming at them, with a gun. He tackles the man, bringing him down. Hotel security separate them, and the man runs away. Toby, of course, is temporarily handcuffed! As Iris turns to leave, she looks at him and drops a piece of paper. When Toby has been released by his police woman friend, he picks the paper up. It has the name of the woman on it. Supposedly the woman is healed, and is in Asia studying their language.

Toby goes back to see Iris, and finds her Uncle on the floor with a head wound. Iris has been taken. Toby and the Uncle run down to the lobby, where they are assured that Iris did not leave the hotel through the front door. Toby checks with the registration desk (well, he jumps over the counter and commandeers the computer!), and finds that the woman and her husband are staying at the hotel. They race to the rom, where they find the Iris getting ready to do a healing. What Toby hears is that the woman is tired, and wants to cross over. He calls Iris away, and explains this to her husband. The woman then crosses over.

Next we see Toby and Oz taking Iris to see t he homeless man. She does a healing with him, and then leaves. The man is, in his mind, watching the northern lights with his son (who has already crossed over). The homeless man is at peace, and also crosses over.

It is important for Toby in the episode to know that he heard the voice in a person’s head (the husband’s), but mistook the message. He was not talking about Iris dying, he was referring to his wife. Toby talks with Iris about how important her gifts are, and that they are just now developing. (Her Uncle made her feel as if she was a fraud.)
