I love finding new tools to work with for personal/spiritual growth. My latest find is Eckhart Tolle’s three CD set (from a 2002 seminar) entitled “In the Presence of a Great Mystery”. The only way they could have made this better is if they made it a DVD set, so that we could see him as he talks to the audience. He is a gentle, humble man who is also one of the greatest thinkers (and speakers) that I know.

Tolle takes infinite ideas and brings them down to a level where they can be understood. He speaks in words that everyone can understand, without talking down to anyone. The focus for this CD set is “Who are we?” He takes his audience through how each of us has created an identity based on our history, how we interpret things, and the memories that we have of our past. All of this is who we “think” we are.

The story of who we are – what Tolle terms the “little me”, is not really who we are. He emphasizes that we are only who we are in the present – that all we have is the present. When we allow ourselves to let go of our mental constructs so that we move beyond our issues, beyond our problems, we find that state of being that we are looking for. Tolle’s speaking manner is such that he often pauses between words and sentences. These “moments of silence” allow us to take the time to truly appreciate what he is saying.

This is much of what we are looking for in a psychic reading – that finding out of who we are, how we can align our physical/mental/emotional/spiritual selves, how we can move past the challenges in our life. This CD set is an excellent tool for coming to a true understanding of self.
