Tarot

I am not a gamer by any means - too old to have the quickness for that! - but I have been following the development of an interactive game from Big Finish Games (http://www.bigfinishgames.com/) called Three Cards To Midnight.

It is a mystery, with the main character a young woman whose last memory is meeting her boyfriend for dinner on the eve of her thirtieth birthday. The next morning she is set to fly to Florida to join her parents on her father's yacht to celebrate her birthday.

Key in sppoky music - all of a sudden things do not feel "natural". Suddenly she finds herself in a room, with a man she has never seen before, and he is telling her that something has happened to her memory, and that she has blocked out days ... or even weeks ... since her birthday.

He says that he is there to help her, and so ... he brings out the Tarot cards! He asks her to choose one card and focus on it - and that this card will take her into the past, and she will regain her memory.

There are some very cool screenshots from the game up on the site, as well as two trailers - one from 2008, and one from 2009. The game becomes available for purchase on May 6th, 2009.

As I said, I am not a gamer - but I have to have this game! ;-) I love Tarot, and cannot wait to see how the design team has integrated the cards into the story.

Check out the site, and see what you think. It goes from 1940'ish to very modern, with floating Tarot cards and more. The voice-overs are very well done, and there are, I believe, three skill levels involved.

Enjoy!

One of the most interesting things that I have noted lately is the manner in which Tarot, and other divination formats, are being used as "added value" for business purposes.

The first one that comes to mind is David's Coffee House in San Diego. From 12:30 pm to 4 pm an Saturday afternoons, long time professional Tarot reader Fred West is offering Tarot readings. Also available are coffee, lunch and dessert! This would be a nice outing for anyone, whether going by yourself, or going with a group of friends.

The next events that caught my eye are being offered by Isis Books and Gifts in Englewood, CO. On Saturday, May 10th, they are offering a Mother's Day Psychic Fair, with psychic readings, Reiki and chair massage available, along with refreshments and prizes.

On May 16th they will be hosting the creators of the Mythic Goddess Tarot deck, There will be a discussion of the process of creating the deck, as well as a general discussion of the re-emergence of the sacred feminine. After the discussion, Tarot readings will be available for $1.00 per minute, 30 minute minimum. Soul portraits will also be available.

What events are happening for you locally, and how can  you find them? Check your local paper, as well as your local metaphysical store. Quite often a metaphysical store will help to promote venues such as psychic fairs, other business oenings, and community events.

Another good source for events to attend are local spas. Quite often they will hold special events, and offer Tarot and other forms of divination along with their spa treatments at a special price.

You might also want to think about including Tarot reading, Astrology or Numerology readings, or other types of divination to your personal or business parties/events. You will add interest and excitement to your event, and everyone will have a great time!

I am very happy to see Tarot (and other forms of divination) receiving... Read More

I am totally psyched! Llewellyn Publications, a leader in publishing metaphysical and new age books, has just come out with two Tarot applications for the iPhone!

I don't use an iPhone myself, but many people do, and I am so happy that Tarot is being included in the available options. I am also very proud of Llewellyn Publications for being a leader in this effort.

The applications will use two of Llewellyn's newest decks - The Mystic Faerie Tarot and The Mystic Dreamer Tarot. Both of these decks are very visually stunning, and such fun to work with!

For those like me that don't have a clue what the iPhone does, it functions as an innovative phone,as an iPod MP3 music player, and as  a gateway to the Interent. This just sounds like so much fun!

I may have to invest in this myself. It would come in handy to be able to access the Internet "on the fly", and it would also be more than handy to be able to do a reading while away from home. The music - well, that would be an aded bonus for me!

We are often faced with having to make decisions when it might not be appropriate to pull out a deck of cards (at work, for example!). Now, wherever you are, you can pull out your phone and get a second opinion on whatever issue you are facing - and no one is the wiser!

Llewellyn is also moving in another high tech direction - the world of Kindle. (Kindle, and Amazon.com product, carries the ability to download e-books for easy reading.) Considering that Llewellyn has an impressive lists of books on a wide range of subjects, I think this is a real coup! Over one hundred of their books are available for download on Kindle.

What a brave new world we have in front of us!
