If you’ve been feeling mixed-up and uncertain about where to turn, you are not alone. Retrograde Mercury and other influences have made the way hard to find for many, with solutions sparse, payments delayed, and information denied since late December.

Furthermore, early January 2010 has been heavily influenced by concerns about basic security. Just about everyone has been affected. Financial stresses and strains have been uppermost. Last week these worries grabbed center stage and made for heavy hearts and minds. Cold weather and generally spartan circumstances added to the urgent need for relief.

Fortunately, this week brings a bit of the very relief we all need, unfolding bit by bit . Though matters may improve only slowly in the beginning of the week, by week’s end, situations will be moving ahead more to our satisfaction.

On Monday, the Sun and Venus conjoin in earthy Capricorn, bringing our attention once again to material matters. This time, however, we are encouraged to think about the ways in which we can be more effective at presenting our wares to the world. The evening of Monday brings a clear moment of opportunity for just this purpose, Here is a time to promote ourselves and our interests. Strike while the iron is hot, between 8 and 9 pm EST Monday, January 11.

Tuesday starts off with a temporary but meaningful emotional disturbance, caused by needs for intellectual independence and adventure. Listen to the voice of the intuition but try not to over react. Then the day settles into a pleasant and even cheerful interlude right through the bed -time hour. In fact, Tuesday and Wednesday meld into a fine opportunity to improve connections in all relationships, be they family, romantic, business, or community, as Venus and Uranus connect by sextile relationship.

But there’s a serious spot to Wednesday as well. This day Saturn makes a retrograde station, indicating that we must hold steady in our career and professional interests, as well as to commitments within existing relationships. Obstacles and resistances are likely to crop up in the next few months, but we must strive to remember our fundamental priorities and not go slack.

And here is more good news. The emotional tone begins to lighten on Wednesday night, continuing to do so through Thursday and then with decidedly greater momentum on Friday, when mental Mercury goes direct again. To top it off, the New Moon takes place on the 15th at 2:11 am EST, providing a surge of positive motivation and hope to our previously flagging spirits. All in all, Friday promises to be a day of recovery and rebound, as we bounce back from deep lows up to where we usually stay. Inner and outer events will combine to bring improvement.

The weekend follows suit, with an interesting shift on Sunday night when Jupiter enters Pisces, signaling a major move toward greater romanticism and creative imagination, which will persist through early June 2010. Romantics take note and prepare for many months of opportunity to woo the object of your affections with mood music, sweet somethings whispered in the ear, and tender sentiment. This will be different from 2009, when Jupiter was in heady and intellectual Aquarius. A shift is coming and it will take us toward deeper feeling and away from clever but complicated mental theories about human psychology.
