Power Predictions - January 18 - 24

White Owl
18 January 2010

At the beginning of this week, parts of our global community are still reeling from the effect of last week’s powerful astrological activations, - particularly the Caribbean nation of Haiti , where devastating earthquakes threw an already struggling nation to its knees on Tuesday of last week.

With our hearts reaching out in hopes for healing in Haiti, many of us will also want to understand what astrological forces might be behind developments of this kind.

As many readers of this site know, astrology works upon the premise that an analogy or relationship exists between the Heavens and the Earth. This notion is expressed in the brief formula: As Above, So Below. If we accept this concept, it follows that there ought to be an arrangement in the heavens correlated with any earthly happening.

In this case, there are several astrological factors which are relevant to the Haitian Earthquake of 2010.

Readers may recall from previous weekly predictions that the planets Saturn and Pluto are presently traveling through their own respective orbits in such a way as to be perceived from our Earth separated by 90 degrees of space in the zodiac. Such a configuration is well-known to the astrological science as a pattern indicative of strong forces held in abeyance or restraint, but only barely so, with inner tension mounting toward an eruption and display of power. This arrangement between Saturn and Pluto has been in effect since early November 2009 and will stay in effect through late August 2010. Affecting both psychology and geology, this planetary combination brings to a crisis point certain internal processes that have been gaining in strength for some time, whether these are in the lithosphere of our planet, the collective mind, or the personal psyche.

At the moment last week in Haiti when the two previously locked continental plates finally gave way and slipped past each other, the Earth had turned in its daily axial rotation in just such a way as to place directly underfoot the Saturn end of the present Saturn-Pluto configuration, which arrangement amplified its power in that locale. Further, that underfoot Saturn itself was in process of making what astrologers call a retrograde station, known to be one of the most powerful of all astrological activations. What is more, Mercury was soon to make what astrologers call a direct station right near the portion of the zodiac where the Pluto end of the configuration lay, which factor also intensified and brought to a focus the long-lasting Saturn-Pluto arrangement. In other words, two planets were making stations last week, and both were involved with the current Saturn-Pluto square. And to top it off, the Moon had only a few short hours before the quake interacted by square aspect with explosive Uranus, planet of the sudden, the unexpected, and the departure from the norm.

Fortunately, numerous activations like these do not all happen together every day. In fact, it is relatively rare that such a combination should arise. This means that there is nothing to fear on an ongoing basis from now through late August 2010 in the way of constant threat from earthquakes.

However, the combination of forces last week was quite sufficient to plunge an already geologically-vulnerable area into chaos. All caring people everywhere feel the pain of Haiti and hope for restoration of order. Fortunately, some progress in this direction is likely to be made in the week of January 18 – 24, but for many, it will be much too slow no matter when it arrives.

And just as Haiti has experienced a real and tangible earthquake, so have all our inner worlds experienced a great upheaval, for in one way or another, we are all touched by the major astrological activations. As Haitians sort through the rubble of what was once the infrastructure of their country, so also we pick through the detritus in our own minds and memories, to try and find what to salvage and what to release from our own worlds. This process is fueled by another exact square of Saturn and Pluto coming on January 31, making the month of January 2010 a period of very sober and serious thinking for many. The times upon us ask for this now, essentially demanding that we find and take a position that will accurately define and reflect essential truth as we know it.
