Mars in Leo – Mars completes the cycle of the Zodiac every two years. It entered Leo on October 16th, 2009 and will remain there until June 7th, 2010. (The cycle is extended because it is considered a retrograde cycle.) Mars symbolizes bravery, aggression, ambition … a risk taker that gets its adrenalin going easily! Leo is a fire sign – very passionate, very quick to act (sometimes without thinking things through). Mars in Leo – quite the volatile combination! Mars gets to be even more aggressive than usual!

Look for Mars to stimulate personal ambition, the need for recognition and the need for power. Those most affected will be Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius, and Taurus, with some Aries people feeling the touch.

Just in time for the spookiest month of the year, the “Myths & Magic” exhibition by Betty Dolman and Rudy Ellis is being featured at the Goddard Centre in Ardmore Oklahoma.

Ms. Dolman’s exhibit, "A Few Myths,"  is an edition of ten handmade, accordion-style books based on Greek Mythology.
The books are influenced by the horizontal scrolls and folding screens of traditional Japanese art. Each of the book’s etchings and calligraphy are hand-done and original, taking her more than a year to complete.

Mr. Ellis’ exhibit is entitled “The Black Tarot." This is as series of mixed media pieces based on the Tarot. The Tarot acts as a “jumping off place” for visual creativity – being illustrations that use the Tarot as their primary source of inspiration, rather than being illustrative of the Tarot.

The Medium Recap – Season 6, Episode 4 – The Medium Is The Message – airdate 10/16/09.
In this episode Allison is having dreams of coded messages, and finds herself driving down the street, seeing all signs in a strange code. She begins to worry that the messages she is seeing are part of a problem left over from her surgery.

She attends a book signing for a book written by someone who claimed to hear the deathbed conviction of a suspect in a serial killing case from ten years ago.

However, Phoenix begins to experience the same type of serial killing, and Allison thinks her dreams about the coded messages are connected to the killings. The codes are the same, the manner of killing is the same. But this killer is left handed, while the killer from ten years ago was right handed.

The serial killer is arrested, on some very interesting evidence. At the same time, a shooting from ten years ago is resolved. The two are connected, in a very unique manner.

Joe begins a new job – working for a young hotshot who only wants him to sit at his desk each day so he can keep money coming into his section (part of a larger company). The resolution to this may surprise you!

Ghost Whisperer Recap – Season 5, Episode 4 – Do Over – aired 10/16/09.
In this episode Melinda tries to protect her son from his dreams while trying to solve the mystery of the haunted morgue. Delia has a date from hell, then starts receiving mystery presents!

Sam brings home an old hospital instrument (one that was being thrown out), not realizing that it carries the energy of a physician that has been unable to cross over since he died of a heart attack – right after performing heart surgery.

Melinda see the surgery being performed – in her dining room – at the same time every night. She thinks that the patient died.

The physician also thinks that he has killed his patient – who did flat line for three minutes, but then came back to life and lead a highly productive, respected life. The physician is then able to cross over, and his patient can release his guilt, for thinking that he caused his physicians death.

But … if it was only the energy of the physician that had not crossed over, who is haunting the morgue?

The Mentalist – Season 2, Episode 4 – Red Menace – air date 10/16/09.
In this episode Jane and the CBI team investigate the murder of a lawyer with questionable scruples whose one and only client is a notorious (and very powerful) motorcycle gang.

The lawyer keeps things so close to his vest that he chooses to have no employees – no secretary, no nothing. He has an office – with an interesting red door. His wife asks no questions – nor does his teenage son. They say they love him – but Jane thinks they may just love the lifestyle.

Is there a mole inside the gang? (If not – there should be! They have incorporated two other gangs in recent history, and are into the whole spectrum of illegal activities that gangs do.) Did the sister of a man that was killed by the biker leader (who, of course, got off scot free) kill the lawyer because he was an easier target? Does the lawyer himself have some bad habits he is not being open about? What does Rigsby have against bikers?

Great show – but it should have ended when it ended, and not with the final scene.

I love everything about fall – the cooler weather, the changing colors, warm sweaters and hot cocoa! I love the shortened days, and the longer nights. Even more than winter, fall is a time of reflection for me. I look back to summer, and all of the projects that I had going. Did the seeds of spring come to life? Did they find purpose, and direction? What do I need to do now to bring them to a close?

This is a time of year when I bring things together, tie them up nicely, and put them in their place. That which needs finishing I either finish or release (if it is no longer serving me well). I look at where I am focusing my attention, and whether this is in alignment with my purpose and my path in this lifetime.

I look forward to cooking and baking, to spending time reading, and generally creating a little cocoon around myself.

What is fall for you? Where is your attention? Where in the cycle of the year are you?

“Eastwick” is a new series on ABC - all about the ladies of Eastwick, and their supernatural powers. Created by Maggie Friedman, it is based on John Updikes novel “The Witches of Eastwick”, and the 1987 film adaptation (truly great movie starring Jack Nicholson as a very believable devil!, and Cher, Susan Sarandon, and Michelle Pfeiffer as the three women).

The TV show follows the lives of three current day women who meet at a wishing fountain and become friends. They are normal (if unhappy) women, with normal (if unhappy) lives and normal powers. That is, until they meet a stranger in town – Darryl Van Horn – who befriends them, opens their hearts and unleashes their true powers. We might guess that Darryl has an agenda – and he does! But does even he know what door he has opened by giving their powers full reign?

The show airs Wednesday nights on ABC.

Ghost Whisperer Recap – Season 5, Episode 5 – Till Death Do Us Start – air date 10/09/10.
In this episode Eli’s father suffers a heart attack and dies, laying the foundation for a difficult family reunion. Eli also reunites with his mother, who died seven years before, but has been unable to cross over. BTW – Eli’s father is also astounded to find that he has died!

Eli’s mother wants Melinda to help Eli’s father cross over – and will not say why. Melinda then finds out that Eli’s father(maybe) had an affair – and that his mother knew about it! Eli’s father is also trying to come between him and his partner’s daughter. Then we find that perhaps Eli’s mother also had an affair (maybe).

Who was the person who cleaned up the cabin after Eli’s mother died? And yes – there was an affair – but you need to watch the show to see who with!

The Medium Recap – Season 6, Episode 3 – Pain Killer – air date 10/09/09.
In this episode Allison suspects that a friend who dies suddenly from cancer was actually the victim of hospital staff (the head of oncology, actually). The second storyline in this episode features a story that daughter Bridgette has written – and how closely it parallels her father’s job interview.

Allison has some very intense conversations – with both the hospital administrator, and the physician that she feels killed her friend. Both sides of the “mercy killing” scenario are explored, and we see how arrogance can have devastating results. The hospital administrator is being used as a pawn, by a physician who knows the system well.

All is not as it seems – as we see when it turns out that Joe lost a job that he had been offered because he had been lied about. The man who got the job – he was a pawn also. And the job – not as good as it sounded. BTW – Joe got a haircut! I have been waiting for that to happen!

The Mentalist Recap – Season 2, Episode 3 – Red Badge – air date 10/02/09.
In this episode Lisbon is accused of murdering a child molester that she sent to jail (and was recently paroled). Robin Tunney (as Agent Lisbon) put in a stellar performance!

The CBI team decide to launch their own investigation into the shooting to help clear Lisbon. The police psychologist that Lisbon has been seeing comes into play, as does Det. Bosco – the detective who took over the Red John investigation. (It turns out he may be in love with Lisbon!)

Money, power, and greed all come into play in this episode. As does Jane’s ability to see beyond the facts – and intuit why Lisbon cannot remember anything about the night of the shooting (even under hypnosis).

The real murder? You would never guess!

Lisa Williams is a very gifted medium and clairvoyant. On her site, http://www.lisawilliams.com/, she does something very unique – she posts “Messages From The Beyond”. A section where each month she leaves channeled messages for individuals by first name only, with the message and an indication of who the message came from.

There is also a listing of her scheduled shows and appearances (and what to expect at a show), a personal blog, and another truly unique offering – distant healing. Once a week Lisa devotes an hour to distant healing for those who ask for it, through the use of Reiki and Crystals.

I recently came across a new game of interest – entitled “Transformation Game”, it is published by Innerlinks. Developed at the Findhorn Institute in Scotland, it is for 2-4 players, ages 16 to adult. It is a game of self discovery, and discovery about others. Using the cards of Angel, Life Insight, Life Setback, and Awareness, it allows each player to follow their own “life path” on the board. In a very realistic manner, each player is affected by the energy of the other players. Each player chooses a personal focus before the game begins, and this is the area that his/her answers relate to.

It is almost Halloween, and there are some very cool things going on! Shadybrook Farm, in Yardley, PA is holding a Pumpkin Fest. It will continue from September 26th, 2009 to October 31st, 2009, and will include hayrides, pick your own pumpkin, a giant corn maze and more. For more information, click here.

There is a haunted corn maze in Knoxville, TN (http://www.oakesfarm.com/), with a portion of the proceeds going to the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.

There is a Haunted Corn Maze open every weekend night in October in Grant, Nebraska (http://www.cornstalkonline.com/). At the same location is Haunted Barnyard, a Haunted Village, and Trees of Terror ( a haunted forest).

It is well worth checking out what is near you! Perhaps you might even want to volunteer to keep an attraction open. Good fun for all ages!

The Medium Recap – Season 6, Episode 2 – Who’s That Girl? – air date 10/02/09.
In this episode, Allison becomes suspicious that Ariel has been possessed by the body of a murdered stripper (who just happens to be the daughter of her boss’s housekeeper).

I love this show, but I thought that this plot was thin – the actress playing the murder victim was too old for the part (supposedly college age). However, we got to see some great work done by Sofia Vassilieva (the actress that plays Ariel).

The murderer? He buries the gun he used in his own flower bed!

Ghost Whisperer Recap – Season 5, Episode 2 – See No Evil – air date 10/02/09.
In this episode Melinda is trying to track down the energy behind an e-mail that is going around Grandview, threatening harm to those that do not pass it on. And harm indeed is coming to those that do not pass it on.

The first connection is to a young girl who was killed in an auto accident (her mother was driving). The mother is in intensive care, and the daughter is convinced that by not passing on the e-mail, she put her mother there. In reality, her mother has a brain tumor, and had a stroke just before hitting the other vehicle.

The real connection is to a young girl that has lived in the hospital all of her life (she was born with a distressed immune system), and Mary Stitch, an evil energy form that comes to her.

Did you know that psychic James Van Praagh is an advisor to Jennifer Love Hewitt on “Ghost Whisperer”? Unfortunately, one of the things that he had to advise her about was that her on and off relationship with Scottish star Ross McCall was not meant to be.

Did you also know that Allison DuBois (the psychic that the hit TV show “Medium” is based on) gives seminars? The next stop on her 2009 “Till We Meet Again Tour” will be on 10/17/09, in Orlando, FL, where she will be giving a two hour seminar. For more information, and tickets, see http://www.allisondubois.com/index.php/vmchk/2009-Events/View-all-products.html.

I just came across a wonderful video on You Tube, presented by our friends at Hay House. They have a new online catalog devoted to iPhone and iPod apps (applications), including card decks, calendars, and instructional material. A sampling of apps includes “Cat Comfort Cards”, “10 Secrets For Success and Inner Peace Cards”, and “Zen Cards”.

Tycoon Games has announced that it is working on a sequel to its Heileen game. Heileen 2 – The Hands of Fate, takes place on a mysterious island (where the characters found themselves at the end of the original game). The primary character, Heileen, comes upon a deck of Tarot cards representing the seven deadly sin and the seven heavenly virtues. She comes to realize that the cards will help her to change her dreams, and her reality.

There are more than twelve possible endings, and an enhanced quest system, making this more than just an interesting game for players!

The Mentalist Recap – Season 2, Episode 2 – The Scarlet Letter – air date 10/02/09.
This episode involves a dual storyline – the CBI are called in to investigate the murder of a state Senator’s intern, and Jane try’s to find out what new information Sam Bosco and his unit have on the Red John investigation.

It is all about personalities here – those of the intern, the Senator, the Senator’s husband and the Senator’s father. It is a who’s who of cover up and deceit – with a lead character (that shows up late in the show) being accidentally killed in an auto accident, and the team, as usual, pushing the envelope on investigative technique.

In a second storyline to be brought forward (the first one being the Red John case now under the auspices of Detective Bosco and his team) we follow Agent Lisbon’s mandated interaction with the police psychologist.

Now that summer is over, we can feel a bit more “ready” to start hunting through the stores for Halloween decorations, costumes, and candy. I like to see what they have out each year for costumes – and wonder if many mothers still make their children’s costumes, as my mother did.

I have a little decorative Goose in my living room, dressed for the season. In October she becomes a witch, and happily watches over the room. (Truth be told – I already put her in costume! I couldn’t wait!) I also put out a big stuffed pumpkin, Halloween candles, stuffed straw people, a ceramic pumpkin and a carved pumpkin (which I don’t carve until October 30th).

Somewhere along the line, a decorative bowl of miniature chocolate bars gets put out, for guests and for trick-or-treaters on Halloween itself. (I always put out the kind of candy that I would have wanted to have were I still trick-or-treating.)

What do you do for Halloween? It is a joyous holiday – honor it in your own way!

Do you like i-phone apps? All I want my cell to do is make phone calls (okay – that it takes pics is cool too!), but many people do like the different apps that are available. There are two new apps that I am very proud to say are out there. No, they don’t have anything to do with me, but they are Tarot apps, and they are from an artist that I greatly admire.

Her name is Kris Waldherr, and she has adapted two of her decks as i-phone apps. The “Love Tarot” app, featuring the “Lovers Path Tarot”, will be available on October 2nd. And can be seen here - http://kriswaldherr.com/ltapp . The “Goddess Tarot” app, featuring the “Goddess Tarot”, is already available, and can be seen here - http://www.kriswaldherr.com/gtapp .

Have fun!

It is interesting to see how the (psychic) ability to see into the future blends itself into many different people’s lives. I just read quite an interesting article on Shari Arison, reportedly the wealthiest woman in Israel. She claims to have foreseen the financial crisis in a very interesting way. For several years now she has been receiving messages, messages that she believes are spiritual communications. She sees things before they happen. She feels that she has been granted this gift not in order to make a lot of money buying and selling stocks, but in order to bring the world to another place.

Her messages bring hope – that salvation is near, and that there will be good afterwards. I find this woman, and her message, to be very profound.

The Full Moon for October appears October 4th, in the sign of Aries. Its Native American name is Harvest Moon. This is a time to take decisive steps towards goals that were set during the September New Moon in Virgo. There is a focus here on health, and on changes that we are choosing to make in our daily routine (as opposed to changed that are thrust upon us).

Aries has a tendency to not want to remember lessons learned. We have to watch ourselves so that we remember the trials that we have been through, so that we do not repeat them. We are blessed with Saturn in Virgo, which helps us to organize things, and release that which is no longer serving us well.

This is a good time to stop, take stock of where you are, where you want to be, and how you hope to get there. We are heading for the downtime of fall and winter, where we rest and plan for the new year.

What are you bringing to a close? What are you releasing? How is your direction changing? Remember – you are the director of your own life.
