The Mentalist – ReCap – Season 1, Episode 14 – Crimson Casanova – air date 8/25/09.
In this episode Jane and the CBI investigate the murder of a woman while in bed with her lover. In the process, Cho gets a makeover and Jane has a great deal to say to a couple of high society men who are living life a little too large.

The husband of the woman who was murdered is politically connected, and uses his power to bring the CBI into the investigation of his wife’s death. Immediate suspects are the woman’s lover and her husband. Jane discounts the lover as the murderer, as shell casing found on the scene are found across the room from the bed. There is also blood on the rug that belongs to the lover, not the victim.

Following the blood trail to a car with specialized license plates, they go to a hotel room where they find a man with a bandaged arm (in bed with a woman). His name is Paul Fricke, and yes, he is a real sleaze! He admits to having spent the evening with the murdered woman (Claire Wolcott). He claims to have woken up with pain in his arm (he was shot) and Claire Wolcott next to him, dead. The room, it appears, was registered in Wolcott’s name.

The best part of this show were the scenes where Claire Wolcott’s husband was being interviewed. His arrogance, name dropping and general behavior are not to be believed! One of the things that Wolcott is demanding to know is the name of his wife’s lover, which the CBI refuse to tell him. (He is not making points with the CBI crew!)

The interview with Claire Wolcott’s former assistant (the one she fired!) is even more telling. She does not want to talk to them, but Jane finds a camera sitting out, with a picture of Claire and her lover taken just before the murder.

It gets better! Fricke is seen in the hotel restaurant with yet another woman, giving his... Read More

The Tarot Pips (numbered cards) show the action that is going on in our lives on a daily basis. Where the Major Arcana is of the Spiritual realm, the Minor Arcana are of the Physical realm. Each pip carries two types of energy – the energy of their number, and the energy of their suit.

Esoterically, the number eight is associated with change, success, cycles and karma.

The number eight is connected with the Strength, the Star and the eight’s in each of the suits. Strength is associated with courage, self-control, determination and discipline. The Star is associated with hope, peace, nurturing and devotion.

The Eight of Wands carries the quality of change, hard work, and lessons that come from personal experience into the realm of passion and creativity. Here we see a great deal of fiery energy, movement and expansion.

The Eight of Cups carries the quality of change, hard work, and lessons that come from personal experience, into the realm of emotions. The energy here is one of moving away from emotions, of moving into the future, into that which is unknown and leaving what is known behind. This card can indicate a separation in an existing relationship, or even a divorce.

The Eight of Swords carries the quality of change, hard work, and lessons learned from personal experience, into the mental realm. Here the Seeker feels as if they have no choice, as if they are bound and cannot see or move.

The Eight of Pentacles carries the quality of change, hard work, and lessons learned from personal experience into the material/physical... Read More

Ghost Whisperer – ReCap – Season 4, Episode 18 – Leap of Faith – air date 8/21/09.
In this episode Melinda helps a mechanic understand that he is a walk in – that his memories are those of a businessman who blames his partner for his problems. In the process, she helps Dr. Bird walk into the light, and Sam accept his Jim walk in.

Eli and Melinda encounter a maintenance worker who describes his near death experience (he was clinically dead and brought back to life), and how he has all of these memories that he doesn’t understand. He hears the name Clarissa constantly, and doesn’t know why. Melinda talks to the man’s former wife – who says that he was not the same person after his near death experience, and that he often called her Clarissa – which was not her name.

She tells Melinda that her ex-husband would not come home from work – he would choose to sit at a bus stop, as if waiting for someone. It turns out that he was sitting at a bus stop that was across the street from where his walk-in lived, with his wife – named Clarissa. When Melinda talks to Clarissa, she finds out that Clarissa was about to leave her husband just before he died, because he had been cheating on her. She found out when his partner was brave enough to tell her.

The mechanic visits Melinda’s antique store by coming in through the tunnel system under the town. He hears Clarissa talking to Melinda, saying that she wants nothing to do with him. He is very hurt, and runs back into the tunnel system. He locks himself into one section, and ends up breaking a pipe that starts spewing water. He is almost killed before he starts climbing up and finds a manhole to escape through.

Meanwhile, Melinda goes into the tunnel to save him. Dr. Bird warns her a bout the water, and she starts running just in time. However, she also ends up in... Read More

The Mentalist – ReCap - Season 1, Episode 15 – Scarlett Fever – air date 8/20/09
In this episode Jane and the CBI crew investigate the death of the wife of a real estate magnate at a party in their home (in a gated community). She is poisoned, and ends up taking a nosedive off of the balcony right straight into the party!

This was such a great show! We have the incredible Simon Baker (Patrick Jane), along with a to die for Yancey Arias (guest starring as Victor Marquesa, the victim’s husband). Throw in young Brandon Waters (guest starring as the victim’s son, Oscar Marquesa), and this was just an incredible hour of television.

The Marquesa money comes from real estate dealings – which were going well, and then dropped off with the economic crisis. This had a little help, although Victor does not know this, from his female accountant, who “borrowed” money from his account to make personal investments that turned out – well, they turned out not so well.

Then there is his wife, who designs jewelry. But perhaps the money she is bringing in is not just from jewelry? Could she also be fronting prescription drugs to her elite friends?

Oh, and the “second in command” at the country club (the victim being the one in command). She was jealous, and is a fierce competitor.

Gated community, elite country club, exclusive lipstick as a clue – what more could we ask for! Hmmm The accountant turns up missing, her house vacant, her accounts wiped out. But wait – she is found, in bed with another woman from this “elite” community!

Then the second in command turns up dead – in the spa, with a knife in her chest. It turns out she had been spreading the word about taking over the victim’s drug business, which is all well and good, except that another member of the elite country club is... Read More

The Medium - Season 5, Episode 11 – The Devil Inside (Part 1) – air date 8-18-09.
In this episode Allison is dealing with a serial murderer, and with Lucas Harvey, a man who is stalking Allison, convinced that he is doing the work of God by getting rid of her and her ability.

The entire family is confined to their house after Lt. Scanlon discovers Harvey’s apartment, and in-depth information on Allison’s and Joe’s schedules, as well as those of their daughters.

The serial murders are an interesting scenario – young women are being killed, and in her dreams Allison sees some type of device being held over their mouth and nose, rendering them unconscious. She guesses that it must contain some type of gas, which it does turn out to be – gas that is used during surgery, indicating that the killer has access to medical devices, and the knowledge to use them.

The detective that Allison works bring groceries to the family, as they do not want them to leave the house. Allison hear water running, and goes to check it out. The bathtub in the master bath is running – and when she goes to shut it off, the door slams and Lucas Harvey appears. He forces her head into the water, but is killed by Lt. Scanlon before Allison is harmed. (I still don’t understand why Harvey had to be shot, but that is what happened.)

In a dream, Allison sees another young woman about to be killed. She sees the killer, waiting in his car, and then sees his license number 2THDR1. The car is traced to a dentist – who has had a heart attack, and been in a coma for four months! The girl that she saw killed was actually killed the day before her dream. In the same dream, she received the answer to a question put to her by Joe’s boss – should he buy a certain stock. In the dr4eam, the answer was yes. In reality – the stock tanked, meaning that Joe will have to start laying... Read More

Each Tarot deck has something different to offer, whether the change is in the imagery, the colors used, the theme … there are many ways to make a deck stand out. One of my favorite decks is the Sakki Sakki Tarot (http://www.sakki-sakki.com/tarot/tarot.html ). This is an independently produced deck from artist Monicka Clio Sakki.

Formatted along the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith format, this deck is meant to be “for the artist in all of us”. It is also a playful deck – literally! Along the long side of the top of the deck box when it is opened are the words “Come On, Let’s Play …”.

There is an extra card with this deck, entitled “The Artist”, that can be used as a significator (the card that represents the Seeker in a reading), or as basically anything that the reader wants it to be. Comprised of pieces from all of the Major Arcana, the Artist serves to awaken the Artist (creative) point of view in the Seeker.

This is a colorful deck, but the tone is more watercolor – flat, and not intense. The style of art is a very loose cartoon type, and includes the glyphs for the planets and signs. (The background for this deck is an amalgam of “archetypes, numerology, astrology, the Kabbalistic Tree of Life and personal symbolism”.) The cards are presented in the box with a paper band around them reading “Good Karma”.

Some of the figures appear headless (but not in a scary way – they look somewhat like mannequins), some appear with a blue skin tone, and they often appear floating or dancing in the air.

This is a very joyful deck, allowing the inner child (or inner Artist!) to come out and play. Monicka has created a specific spread – the “Artists Path Spread” to be used with these cards. This is a deck that will bring out information without pushing any boundaries, allowing the Seeker to look at themselves, and their... Read More

The Tarot Pips (numbered cards) show the action that is going on in our lives on a daily basis. Where the Major Arcana is of the Spiritual realm, the Minor Arcana are of the Physical realm. Each pip carries two types of energy – the energy of their number, and the energy of their suit.

Esoterically, the number seven is associated with spirituality, and the connection between the physical and spiritual worlds. It represents mystery, active imagination and consciously manifesting results.

The number seven is connected with the Chariot, the Tower and the seven’s in each of the suits. The Chariot is associated with will, action and a balanced ego. There is a sense of purposefulness here. The Tower is associated with that lightening quick moment when our illusions are torn away, and we see the world for what it is. What we see here is upheaval and a need to let go of preconceived notions that have been held for a long time.

The Seven of Wands carries the quality of balance, mystery and spirituality into the realm of passion and creativity. This is a card of forcefully holding your ground and protecting yourself.

The Seven of Cups carries the quality of balance, mystery and spirituality into the realm of emotions. Here we see a world of options that will stay as options only until we focus on one and put energy into it. This is a card of dreaminess and imagination, illusion and deception.

The Seven of Swords carries the quality of balance, mystery and spirituality into the mental realm. Here we see a subversive nature, secretive nature. There is a sense of sneakiness,... Read More

There are many tools of empowerment out there, and many different empowerment practices. I have found that one of the practices that helps me the most is to draw a card each morning, and journal it. I am a Tarot reader, so the cards that I generally choose to use are Tarot cards. There are many different types of cards that can be used – Astrological cards, Angel cards, Positive Affirmation cards, Shaman cards, I Ching cards – the list is endless.

You may choose to work with different decks, and draw from the deck that most appeals to you on any given day. You want to have a connection with the deck that you use, because the reason you are drawing the card is to get a heads up on the energy that will be in your day. This does not mean that you have given up your power, and that the energy runs your day, but that you recognize that the energy will be there, so that you can formulate a manner of responding to it.

I suggest journaling the card, which can take the form of an electronic file, or a handwritten journal in any form that you wish. You may also choose to tape your response. Whatever works for you is what you should do.

Allow yourself time to really look at the card. Note your initial response, and the images within the card that you are drawn to. What is going to be happening during your day, and how might this energy affect it? I would also suggest going back in the evening and noting what went on during the day, and how this energy played out in your life.

You may also want to carry the card with you, so that you can refer to it whenever you want to. Remember, this is a tool for you to better understand your life, and how your actions/reactions affect both your present and your future.

Ghost Whisperer – ReCap – Season 4, Episode 17 – Delusion of Grandview – airdate 8/14/09.
In this episode Sam and Eli help Melinda discover who the ghost is that is haunting a class of kindergarten children. Melinda first sees the ghost of a woman in the playground with the children. She and Sam visited the school, on the pretext of looking at possibilities for schooling for a future child. While in the classroom, Melinda sees the ghost in the middle of a circle of children, leading them in a French song. The teacher says that she did not teach them the song.

One of the kindergarteners – a young boy – then proceeds to leave a message on the blackboard that is far above his ability to have written. The message is scary, and the teacher runs to get the principle to come and see it. When they get back to the classroom, the message is still there, but the children are gone!

The children are found in a local park, singing the same French song, with the ghost in the middle of them. The ghost tells Melinda that she is protecting them (the children). She still will not cross into the light, and will not discuss how she died.

Eli finds out that the building was not always a school – that, amongst other things, it was at one time an asylum. Going into the asylums records (which were conveniently donated to the school that Eli works for), they find out who the woman ghost was. She was a patient at the asylum – someone who had killed her newborn child. She died after several years in the asylum, with no record of how.

Sam and Melinda sneak into the school at night, to try and find how the children might have left the room. They find a doorway that leads into a tunnel system underneath the city. While there, Melinda tells Sam the truth – that Jim entered his body after the accident. Sam refuses to believe this,... Read More

The Mentalist – ReCap – Season 1, Episode 13 – Paint It Red – air date 8/13/09.
In this episode Jane recovers a $50 million stolen painting, and gives some sage advice about parenting. All the while dealing with a Russian mobster and a self-made “man of industry” that isn’t too connected to reality.

The show begins with the finding of a dead body – by two people who should never have been in the room in the first place, and one of whom deliberately turned off the security cameras! (Yes, he lost his job over this.) So we have one dead body (son-in-law of the paintings owner), and one missing painting.

Jane nicely points out that the body has been dragged – and that the reason the body was dragged is so that it would not be found in the room where it was killed – which is really a room the two people who found the body would not have had a reason to be in, under any circumstances.

We move on to Jane speaking with the dead man’s wife (the daughter of the paintings owner) – a very unassuming young lady (who knew a ponytail could look so chic!), who tells Jane that her husband worked “special projects” for her father – in other words, anything her father wanted him to, in order to “prove himself”.

Then there is the woman who is in charge of purchasing artwork for the self-made man. I loved this character – very “self important”, as one would think someone in this position would be. However, she did throw out a hint as to who would be in a position to be interested enough in the painting to steal – a Russian mobster who just happens to be in town.

Jane checks into the dead man’s past, which includes six months prison time served in Canada for a theft conviction. He also finds out about $20,000 worth of checks written out to a company no one knows anything about. Jane and Van Pelt go to the area that... Read More

The imagery in the Tarot is what drives the process. The Tarot is archetypal in nature – the images and symbols used are meant to make a connection between the Seeker and the nature of the card. I recently began working with a new deck – “The Fairytale Tarot”, by artist/author Lisa Hunt (Llewellyn Worldwide, 2009).

Lisa is a watercolorist, and the images that she painted carry a gentle, fantasy quality to them. She has followed the traditional structure of the Rider-Waite Tarot system, choosing fairytales from around the world to represent each card. The scene chosen for each card is one that is pivotal to the story being presented.

I like this deck because it can be used by anyone, from any culture or background. The scenes are family oriented, in that there is no nudity or “gory” content. The companion book, entitled “Once Upon A Time”, sets the tone for the deck – that there is a fairytale ending for everyone who looks for it!

The Fool (renamed Innocence) is represented by the story “Little Red Riding Hood”. The scene that is depicted on the card is that of Little Red Riding Hood carrying her basket through the woods on her way to her Grandmothers house, with the “Big Bad Wolf” right behind her. I love this card, because the wolf looks more playful than menacing, and if you look closely, you will see faces in the trees in the woods. It is a magical land, where magical things happen.

The High Priestess (renamed The Sorceress) is represented by the Welsh fable “The Lake Maiden”. The scene that is depicted is that of the Maiden returning to the shore of the lake to instruct her human children in the magical arts. In this card, the maiden appears to be walking on the water. Water represents our unconscious, and the High Priestess/Sorceress is our connection between our conscious and unconscious selves.

While the imagery in this deck is not traditional, it does represent the... Read More

Medium – ReCap – Season 5, Episode 7 – A Necessary Evil – air date 8/11/09.
In this episode Allison is having doubts about the motives of the ghost of Agent Cooper, who is intruding on her life once again, supposedly trying to help her solve a murder. Meanwhile, Allison’s husband Joe is undergoing a crisis of his own. The person that he has just hired (on his boss’s recommendation) is not someone that he is comfortable with.

Allison has a dream about a man who is about to go into a diner and kill several people. The man shows up dead – a supposed suicide – before he can kill anyone. She has a second dream, where she sees him writing the suicide note, then standing on a chair under a noose. However, he is not contemplating suicide – he is begging for his life, from someone in the background who is calmly threatening to shoot him if he does not jump off the chair and hang himself. When he is unable to do so, this person kicks the chair out from under him.

Allison has another dream, this time about a woman. She is being made to write a suicide note, and then inject herself with a drug that will kill her. She is also begging for her life. We hear the same voice as in the previous dream, and then we see the face of a young male wearing a hoodie.

Both the man and woman are judged to be suicides, as this is where the evidence points. Allison’s boss states that there is really no evidence to look into. Dillon suggests that Allison go through high school yearbooks to see if she can identify the young man, which she does. She then goes to his school, to see if she can find him – not to interview, just to see him and see if he is the face from her dream.

Allison then has another dream, where she sees Agent Cooper telling the young man exactly what to do to break into these people’s houses undetected and kill them. Allison addresses this with him,... Read More

Fragrance is something that we all take for granted. We know that we love the smell of certain flowers, perfumes, colognes or incense. The scent of baking or cooking brings bake good memories – the kind of memories that sustain us over a lifetime. If we pay attention to scent, and how we react to it, we can learn to surround ourselves with the scents that will be most beneficial to us for given situations.

Following is a short list of scents, and some of the qualities/benefits that they carry with them:

Carnation: Carnation is a gentle scent that can be used in connection with protection from ghosts.

Eucalyptus: Eucalyptus, aside from its use as an antiseptic, can be used for help in breathing as well as promoting healing and easing depression.

Frankincense: For me, this is very much a Christmas related smell (especially for candles). This scent can be use for protection, and to cleanse.

Gardenia: This is a fairly strong smell, and will not appeal to all people. It can be used to attract or work with nature energies, and in telepathic work.

Lavender: This is a scent that is well known for its relaxing qualities, and when working with altered states of consciousness.

Lilac: This scent is a good choice to use when connecting with the spirit world. It is a light, gentle fragrance.

Rose: This is a good scent to use when dealing with emotions, and with issues connected to love. Rose scent will also be of help in opening the connection to spirit when meditating or doing visualization.

Rosemary: This is another scent that appears around Christmas time. It is protective by nature, and also helps in remembering things that have been forgotten.

This is a short list – just a beginning to let you see what you can do with fragrance. Whether you wear it... Read More

Esoterically, the number six represents harmony, balance, truth and enlightenment.

The number six is connected with the Lovers, the Devil and the six’s in each of the suits. The Lovers is associated with balancing polar opposites (such as male/female), harmony, attraction and creating win/win situations. The Devil is associated with anxiety, fear, defeat, restriction and our shadow issues.

The Six of Wands carries the quality of balance and harmony into the realm of passion and creativity. This is a card of victory, after a well fought battle.

The Six of Cups carries the quality of balance and harmony into the realm of emotions. There is harmony in our relationship with ourselves, and in our relationships with others. This card can also refer to childhood memories for the Seeker.

The Six of Swords carries the quality of balance and harmony into the mental realm. Here the Seeker is finding their own truth. Here the Seeker gains the ability to leave their worries behind them – perhaps in the form of a retreat.

The Six of Pentacles carries the quality of balance and harmony into the material/physical world. It is about giving (or receiving) a monetary gift, and the balance of power in the Seeker’s life..

The Ghost Whisperer – Season 4, Episode 15 – Ghost Busted – air date 8/07/09.
In this episode, Melinda tells Sam (finally!) about her ability to see ghosts. Eli and Melinda help a paranormal ghost buster  (Linus) (with a really cool ghost buster vehicle!) reunite with his ex-girlfriend (Carrie), and solve the disappearance of an older woman from the house across the street from Melinda.

The neighbors house is haunted – so they hire a paranormal investigator to help them locate the problem – and solve it. Melinda is not happy about this – in conversation with Eli, she notes that ghost busters do not communicate with ghosts, and they do not help them to cross over. She is also a little concerned about how Sam is going to react to the garish vehicle (highly decorated hearse!) that Linus drives!

Eli goes over to get to know Linus, and ends up working with him. He also ends up seeing his first ghost! He feels that the ghost is that of the elderly woman that previously owned the home – and mysteriously disappeared! (The current owners bought it from her estate.)

Meanwhile, Sam is doing a Google search on Melinda to find out more about her. Eli talks to Evelyn (the ghost of the woman who disappeared). Eli, Melinda and Linus go into the basement of the house, where they find a locked room, and the body of the woman who supposedly disappeared. They also find her savings passbook, which showed that she had withdrawn all of her savings just before
she “disappeared”. They are led to the hidden panel for the room by a male ghost that Melinda sees.

Sam is being quite vocal about not believing in ghosts, or paranormal activity. He is very aggressive in expressing his views. Since his accident, and his memory loss, he has a hard time dealing with anything that is not “set in stone”.... Read More

The Mentalist – ReCap – Season 1, Episode 12 – Red Rum – air date 8/06/09.
In this episode, Jane and the CBI crew are looking for a missing high school football star by the name of Cody Elkens. While the CBI team talks to Cody’s parents, Jane talks to three young boys on bikes that are sitting across the street. He gets one of them to nod in the direction that they think Cody can be found. Lo and behold, looking in that direction, Jane sees carrions circling in the sky. He and Lisbon walk over to the site, and find Cody – dead. Not only dead, but with a Pentacle near his body and candles surrounding him. This murder looks like a sacrificial death in a black magic ritual.

Cody’s parents blame a local (self professed) witch (Tamzin Dove) when told about the crime scene. Cody had been accused by her of taking her cat – which his parents insist he did not do. Supposedly the witch had called Cody up and cursed him. By this time it has been determined that Cody was more than likely not killed at the crime scene.

The CBI team goes to talk with Cody’s football coach, who he had an argument with just before disappearing. There is some explaining to do here, as the coach was dismissed from a previous position for hitting a child. In the locker room – which the coach gives them permission to search – they find a bloody tee shirt in Cody’s locker. The blood turns out to be the coach’s, who admits to having a fight with Cody. He also tells the team that Cody beat a boy by the name of Daniel Brown unconscious. The team later find out that the fight was because Brown had said something bad about Cody’s family. The Elkins family paid Brown for his silence, to keep Cody from jeopardizing his scholarship.

Jane, Lisbon and Cho go to talk to Tamzin Dove, but do not find her at home. However,... Read More

Numerology gives us what is called a Destiny number. It is derived from all of the letters of your full birth name. (So – for those that changed their name, thinking that the new name had a better vibration – your destiny is based on your birth name – no changes allowed!) Your destiny number describes the things that you must accomplish in this lifetime, and the opportunities that will be made available to you. This is your life’s purpose, your spiritual mission in this lifetime.

The following chart shows the number that is associated with each letter of the alphabet:

A=1 B=2 C=3 D=4 E=5 F=6 G=7 H=8 I=9

J=1 K=2 L=3 M=4 N=5 O=6 P=7 Q=8 R=9

S=1 T=2 U=3 V=4 =5 X=6 Y=7 Z=8

The following list is a synopsis of each Destiny number:

1 – This Destiny number indicates a need to gain independence and establish ones self as a leader. You have the skills to work creatively, to problem solve well, and to act on your thoughts. (However, it may be left to others to do the follow through.) You have the potential to achieve whatever you set out to do, and to be financially compensated for it.

2 – This Destiny number indicates a bent towards needing to understand people, and it has a spiritual focus. This person is quite often the mediator in the room, has good communication skills and is diplomatic. A number two Destiny number also indicates the ability to inspire others, and to lead by example.

Numerology can tell us many things – one of the most important being our Life Path. Our Life Path number defines who we are at birth, and the inherent qualities that we will carry with us throughout our lifetime. This number is obtained by adding the sum of the numbers in your birth date, and reducing that number to a single digit. For example, the birth date of 12/29/1948 would be added up (1+2=3, 2+9=11=2, 1+9+4+8=4; 3+2+4=9) giving a Life Path of 9. Note: The only time that a double digit number is used is when it adds up to a Master Number, such as 11 or 22. Master numbers give us the ability to gain a high level of achievement, but this is sometimes gained only after a great deal of struggle.

Following is a synopsis of the Life Path numbers, and what they mean.

Number 1 – This is the life path of a leader, of someone with an independent nature and a strong need to achieve.

Number 2 – This is the Life Path of someone who acts as a peace maker. This person is highly skilled in diplomacy, and has powerful communication skills.

Number 3 – This is the Life Path of someone who is highly creative, with excellent communication skills.

Number 4 – This is the Life Path of someone who is very practical, very good at planning things, and carrying out their plans.

Number 5 – This is the Life Path of the adventurer – someone whose highest wish is to be free.

Number 6 – This is the Life Path of the nurturer – someone to whom home and family is everything.

Number 7 – This is the life Path of someone who chooses to live in the realm of thought and observation. This person is a very good judge of character, and very much a perfectionist.

Number 8 – This is the Life Path of someone ambitious and organized, who chooses work over play and often is an overachiever.... Read More

Medium – ReCap – Season 5, Episode 6 – Apocalypse … Now? - air date 8/04/09.
This episode is about an all too real apocalyptic dream that Allison has – one that is followed upon waking by a very real earthquake!

Allison is called to Chandler to help with an investigation. There are rooms with blood and blood spatter, but no bodies. Presumed killed are a husband and wife, their son and their daughter. On the way home, Allison stops to purchase disaster supplies, and gets into a conversation with the store owner, who believes that everyone needs to be prepared for the worst – including owning a gun!

That night, Allison talks to her husband about getting a gun – which he firmly refuses to consider, largely because of their children. Later she has a dream, where she sees a young girl in a bunker, with a man entering in a biohazard suit. It appears that they are the only two people living – that everyone else has dies. The man – who is the owner of the disaster supply store – tells the young girl that they will “repopulate” the world.

As Allison watches a suspect in the murder of the family being interrogated, she gets an image of a body being buried on a hillside. A body is found – but it is not one of the family members. It is the young girl from her dreams. It turns out that she was a runaway three years before.

The detectives find what turns out to be the bodies of the family that was murdered. They are in a large sink, in an abandoned restaurant, and have had acid poured over them.

Allison has another dream, where she sees the girl that was buried, only she is back in the bunker. The whole place is on fire, but she manages to get out. Once she gets out, she discovers that there is no apocalypse, that no one is dead. She goes into the nearest house, looking for help. The house belongs to the man from the disaster... Read More

The Tarot Pips (numbered cards) show the action that is going on in our lives on a daily basis. Where the Major Arcana is of the Spiritual realm, the Minor Arcana are of the Physical realm. Each pip carries two types of energy – the energy of their number, and the energy of their suit.

Esoterically, the number five represents the five senses, the marriage of the masculine and the feminine, individuality and spiritual aspiration. Alchemically, it represents the quintessence (the pure essence of a substance). From a numerological viewpoint, the number five represents adaptability, curiosity, and the love of freedom. They also represent instability and change.

The number five is connected with the Hierophant, Temperance, and the five’s in each of the suits. The Hierophant represents a teacher, advisor, or mentor. It is all about religion, convention, and collective (group) beliefs. Temperance is the peacekeeper, resolving inner and outer issues. Patience and adaptability are signs of Temperance.

The Five of Wands expresses adaptability in the world of creativity, passion and spirit. Here we are talking about conflict, power struggles, and our own doubts and fears. We are also talking about competition. These are the outside forces that we have to deal with.

The Five of Cups expresses adaptability in the world of emotion. Here we see someone who cannot get past an emotional block of their own creation. They are focused on whatever is making them unhappy, and refusing to see other things in their life that could make them happy. There is loss and disappointment in this card.

The Five of Swords expresses adaptability in the mental world. Here we see a less than honorable victory, trickery and deceit. The victory is short lived.

In this episode Melinda deals with the ghost of a domineering mother (Mrs. Marks) who wants to keep an older boy (Tim) away from her high school age daughter. Mrs. Marks appears to Melinda at a school dance that she, Delia and Sam are chaperoning. Melinda and Delia observe a young girl having problems with her date. Before they can intervene, an older boy (Tim Dwight) comes in and takes the girl away.

The ghost (Mrs. Marks) appears to Melinda as she and Sam come home from the dance (cutting short her evening with Sam). The ghost will not say anything other than that Melinda must keep her daughter away from Tim (the boy that rescued her daughter at the dance). Melinda thinks that the ghost must have died in a fire, as every time she appears Melinda see fire or ashes.

Melinda visits the father to talk to him about his daughter and the ghost of his wife. The father denies that there was a fire, or any kind of break in. He insists that his wife’s death was an accident. However, again Melinda is getting visions of a fire in the fireplace, and of the fireplace poker. She thinks that perhaps Mrs. Marks was killed with the poker.

Delia’s son, Ned, goes to talk to Kristy Marks (the girl from the dance). She tells him that she believes her mother and Tim were having an affair. Her mother was a lawyer who specialized in rescuing youth at risk, and Tim was one of the youth that she rescued.

Melinda goes to talk to Tim, who denies any kind of personal relationship with Mrs. Marks. He drives away in anger. The Mentalist – ReCap – Season 1, Episode 9 – Flame Red – air date 7/30/09.
In this episode Jane and the CBI team investigate murder by arson. The solving of this crime exposes a much older crime, a given vengeance (and the masks that we wear) a whole new name.

One of the first things that Jane notes when they visit the crime scene – and the widow – is that the Police Chief (Trey Piller) and the victim (Richard Garcia) served in the same National Guard unit. He also talks to the victim’s daughter – and finds out that the daughter and her mother are not on good terms. There is an incident involving a developmentally disabled young man (Tommy Olds) that her mother, where the daughter yells at the mother to stop lying and just call the young man developmentally disabled.

Before leaving the house, Jane and Lisbon meet Ben Machado, a local real estate person. From the daughter, Jane learns that her father used to have his military mementoes housed in a glass case, but that he put them away, and she does not know why. Part of the reason that the daughter, Maddy, is bitter towards her mother is that she suspects that she had an affair.

Rigsby and Van Pelt visit Mitchell Reese, the man that Richard Garcia was supposed to meet on the night that he was killed. They find him working on a car, and note sever burns on both arms, that have healed. Reese also mentions that two men from the same National Guard unit died by fire – the recent victim, Rich Garcia, and a man who died three years ago, Dave Martin.

Just then the CBI team gets a call to another fire – at the home of Police Chief Trey Piller. Rigsby hears screaming, and races into the house to carry Piller out, sustaining burns to one arm himself. It is determined that the two fires have the same MO, and theat the... Read More

The Tarot Pips (numbered cards) show the action that is going on in our lives on a daily basis. Where the Major Arcana is of the Spiritual realm, the Minor Arcana are of the Physical realm. Each pip carries two types of energy – the energy of their number, and the energy of their suit.

Esoterically, the number four represents stability, grounding and solid matter. In the Tarot, the number four is associated with the four elements, the four seasons, the four worlds, and the four directions. It speaks of the setting of boundaries, of order and structure.

The number four is connected with the Emperor, Death, and the four’s in each of the suits. The Emperor sits on his throne, master of his universe. He rules with logic and reason – the foundation of his world. His throne is the “seat of reason”. Death is all about letting go of that which is no longer serving us. In doing so, we open up space to bring something new in.

The Four of Wands expresses foundation in the world of creativity. What has been imagined has been manifested into the physical world. There is a sense of completion here, along with a sense of celebration. This card is associated with the home, and is known as the marriage card. There is a sense of harmony and balance here.

The Four of Cups expresses foundation in the world of emotions. This is a tricky card, because if we become too absorbed in our emotions, we can tend to not acknowledge those around us, and the love and support that they are offering.

The Four of Swords expresses foundation in the mental realm. Here we are looking at the need for a time out to recuperate after a particularly stressful time.

The Four of Pentacles expresses foundation in the physical realm. This is where we see our physical and material security manifested. There is an inability here to want to let go of anything.... Read More

I love finding new tools to work with for personal/spiritual growth. My latest find is Eckhart Tolle’s three CD set (from a 2002 seminar) entitled “In the Presence of a Great Mystery”. The only way they could have made this better is if they made it a DVD set, so that we could see him as he talks to the audience. He is a gentle, humble man who is also one of the greatest thinkers (and speakers) that I know.

Tolle takes infinite ideas and brings them down to a level where they can be understood. He speaks in words that everyone can understand, without talking down to anyone. The focus for this CD set is “Who are we?” He takes his audience through how each of us has created an identity based on our history, how we interpret things, and the memories that we have of our past. All of this is who we “think” we are.

The story of who we are – what Tolle terms the “little me”, is not really who we are. He emphasizes that we are only who we are in the present – that all we have is the present. When we allow ourselves to let go of our mental constructs so that we move beyond our issues, beyond our problems, we find that state of being that we are looking for. Tolle’s speaking manner is such that he often pauses between words and sentences. These “moments of silence” allow us to take the time to truly appreciate what he is saying.

This is much of what we are looking for in a psychic reading – that finding out of who we are, how we can align our physical/mental/emotional/spiritual selves, how we can move past the challenges in our life. This CD set is an excellent tool for coming to a true understanding of self.

This weeks episode starts out with Allison dreaming about an encounter gone wrong between a man and a woman, where he unintentionally strangles her. He then tosses her body over an embankment, and throws a large stone down on her when he realizes that she is still alive. This is all observed by a dead man.
