Psychic Blogs

I came across a new (to me, anyway) website that I felt the visitors to our www.PsychicPower.com site might appreciate: http://www.healyourlife.com/.

The title is quite literal – the site is devoted to ways that we can heal our own lives. They have an incredible list of columnists, including Colette Baron-Reed, Sylvia Browne, Sonja Choquette, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Steven D. Farmer, Louise L. Hay, Deborah King, Denise Marek, Mona Lisa Schultz, Ph.D., Gordon Smith, Marianne Williamson and Eve A. Wood, Ph.D.

Their features include Everyday Wisdom (articles such as Get Inspired!, by Dr. Wayne Dyer – 12 ways to simplify your life and set your spirit free), Life’s Help (showcasing articles that concern the wellness of mind and body), Events (a schedule of upcoming Hay House events here and abroad), and Blogs (current blogs include the Wayne Dyer Blog (Dr. Wayne Dyer – random thoughts on how to live with contentment, gratitude and awe) and Inside The Dust Jacket (Donna Abate – a behind the scenes look at one of the leading New Age Publishers (Hay House), including author updates and new releases, tips for personal growth and more).

I am so impressed by the stories and articles on this site. There is Steven Farmer’s article on What Messages do the Animals Have For You? (all about healing life from the creatures of our world), Marianne Williamson’s What’s Age Got To Do With It? (on midlife changes), and Gordon Smith’s Give What You Get (on how to fine tune our intuitive gifts), and Colette Baron-Reid’s Can Fortune Cookies Predict The Future (about aleuromancy and receiving messages from the spirit).

You can sign on as a member for free (I did this because I love to leave comments on articles that have meant a great deal to me), and they also offer a monthly newsletter. I hope that you take the time to visit this site – they are there to... Read More

One of the most interesting, and the most misunderstood, cards in the Tarot is the Major Arcana card of Death (Key #13). It can indeed mean physical death, but the interpretation that most often applies is that of a symbolic death – a transformation. Death is the letting go of something that is no longer serving the Seeker well, so that room can be made for new ideas, and new energy. By not releasing what no longer serves us, we are in effect holding ourselves back from both personal and spiritual growth. This is very easy to do, as not accepting change keeps us in our comfort zone.

Wherever the Death card appears in a reading, is an area of life (or perhaps a time period of life) that the Seeker needs to pay close attention to. They are being asked to release old belief systems, old ways of looking at things, so that they can align themselves with their authentic self. We need to remember that we are continually evolving both as a species and as individuals – what served us well at one point in time may no longer serve us well as we assimilate new ideas, new ways of dealing with things, and new understandings.

The appearance of the Death card can be a highly emotional time, as it indicates that the Seeker is at a crossroads – that they are leaving the past behind, and moving into a new phase in their life.

When the cards are laid down for a reading, and the Death card comes up, this should be addressed immediately. If it is not, the Seeker will fixate on that card, and not hear a thing that is being said until that card is addressed! Reassure the Seeker that the card addresses a symbolic death, a letting go, a time of transformation, rather than a physical death. Ask them if they have any questions before you begin the reading. Remember, it is up to the reader to set the reading environment, and to make it a safe place for the... Read More

Interpreting the cards can be overwhelming to a student that is new to the Tarot. We are going to take a look at one way to interpret a three-card reading, using the Past/Present/Future format. The deck used was the Morgan-Greer Tarot.

The question for this reading is: “What do I need to know about my current job?”

The cards drawn were:

Past: Eight of Cups

Present: Queen of Swords

Future: Five of Wands

Eight of Cups - Queen of Swords - Five of Wands

The first thing that you want to do is to note your overall impression: What impressed me was that the card of the past faced the card of the present – there was a very free flow between the cards. The card of the present represented very strong, present oriented energy (the figure looks out directly at the Seeker). The card of the future shows a definite clash of wills.

Taking the cards in turn, the things that I noted on the Eight of Cups were the figure in the red cloak (the red attracted my attention), and the yellow cups (the yellow attracted my attention. The next thing that I noted was the river flowing in the background. I get a sense of peace with this card.

The determined look on the face of the Queen of Swords was attention getting for me, as well as the sword that she holds, point up, in front of her. I also noted her dark hair, and the red roses. My feeling about this card was that this was a woman with a sense of purpose – not someone that you would want to cross.

In the Five of Wands I was attracted first to the wands themselves, and then to the five hands that are holding them. There are five different hands here, so this is a disagreement between a group of people. My sense here is that of someone watching their own backs very closely.

Some of the questions that we might want to ask ourselves when... Read More

“A New Earth – Awakening To Your Life’s Purpose Inspiration Deck” is a 52 card set of carefully chosen passages from author/spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle’s bestselling book of the same name. I had the very good luck to have a friend of mine let me know that Oprah Winfrey was doing a series of discussions with Tolle focusing on “A New Earth”. I found him to be a very humble, incredibly intelligent gentleman who, by the end of the first discussion had learned how to handle Winfrey without appearing to “handle” her at all. (The show was done using Skype, and this was a first for her, so she was pretty tightly wound!)

Each passage was selected to reinforce the principles of the book, which basically help the reader to transcend the mind-set of the ego and to awaken to your life’s purpose. We open to the true sense of who we are, and the true sense of what the world around us is, we live more authentic lives, and we find personal happiness through ending conflict with others.

The top of the box folds into a pop-up frame so that individual cards can be displayed for meditation purposes, or to simply be used as a focus throughout the day. The box itself is a beautiful dark orange, with a picture of the earth on the cover.

The cards themselves are 3 ¾” by 5 ½”, of good quality card stock. They are flat, rather than glossy, with dark orange backs. About one third of the way up from the bottom of the card is a black strip, with four different backs: one is a set of hands in the middle with an image of the world balanced in the air between them, one is the earth with a night sky background, one is the earth backed by a green leaf, one is the earth against a background of clouds.

The card faces show a ¼” colored border, surrounding a center with a black background. The passage is in white type centered on the card, with an image of the earth centered above it. The cards are broken down... Read More

Mary K. Greer’s “Tarot For Yourself” (New Page Books, Second Edition - 2002) is an integral addition to any Tarot library. Greer was one of the first author’s to promote using the Tarot for personal insight (as opposed to using it for purposes of divination). Through this book, Greer also promotes self-study – beyond the memorizing of meanings. Here the reader learns how to place t he energy of the Tarot to work in their life.

The first edition of this book (along with a copy of the Rider-Waite Tarot) was my introduction to the Tarot. I consider myself extremely lucky that the clerk at the metaphysical bookstore that I went to immediately went to this material. I also consider myself blessed that I had the good sense to ask what was best, and not just pick up a deck and a book and hope!

The material in this book well reflects the influences of its time – and acknowledges that nothing in life has to be a “stand alone”. Information is included on journal writing, mythology, psychology, self-help, relationships, prosperity and right livelihood, crystals, channeling, astrology, numerology, poetry, art and occult metaphysics – all integrated into the world of Tarot.

In this edition, Greer has expanded her interpretation of the Minor Arcana, included reversed interpretations for all cards, a wonderful history-based appendix (that Greer developed with other Tarot scholars), information on the Shadow/Teacher cards, and an updated bibliography.

There are many unique features in this book. Greer not only gives the names of decks that readers may be interested in, but she also lists them by background and type. For instance, decks listed under the category of combining the influences of both the Thoth and the Rider-Waite Tarot include the Cosmic Tribe Tarot, the Light and Shadow Tarot, and the Motherpeace Tarot. Under type, the Cosmic Tribe is listed as computer manipulated photo collage, the Light and... Read More

Toby and Oz are out at a nightclub – with Oz trying to get Toby to use his powers to see what girls are thinking about him. Oz has a crush on a bartender that Toby realizes finds him boring. He takes the high road and tells Oz that the woman has too much baggage.

Toby then meets a girl named Nina (who is wearing the greatest dress that I have seen lately!), and goes home with her. It gets a little strange, as he is using his camera to film her as she is talking. It is also a very expensive apartment, which should have given him pause! At any rate, her ex-boyfriend shows up, and Toby leaves.

The next day Toby and Oz are called to Nina’s address on an EMT call. Nina is dead. Segue to Toby and Oz walking through a park, and coming upon a young lady in a basic black dress that is having trouble breathing. They realize that she is having an allergic reaction (to peanuts, it turns out), and Oz treats her. He sees her again later at the hospital, where she gives him her number.

Small world – it turns out that Nina worked at the same hospital as a pathologist in the morgue. (This is the same hospital where Toby’s ex girlfriend, the physician, works.) Toby goes back to the club, and gets the last name of Nina’s ex-boyfriend. He calls this in to the police, and they go out to pick him up. Of course he runs, and of course he gets hit by a car. Doesn’t get killed, though. It also turns out that he is not much of a suspect.

Oz’s new friends shows up with oranges and music CD’s as a thank you for saving her (she is new to the area, and very high up in a music company).

Nina’s boss suggests that she may have died not of a deliberate injury, but from a pre-existing condition. Upon autopsy, it is found that this is true. Something to do with her carotid artery.

Toby is meanwhile having a few issues with his female... Read More

One of the best readings to use to get clarity on an issue is the three card Past/Present/Future spread. This allows the Seeker (the person asking the question) to see the energy from the past that helped create their current situation, the situation as it stands on the day of the reading, and what will happen in the future if no action is taken.

The Seeker now has a very good overview of their situation, and of the options open to them. The reader can help them to see the influences around them, and to place them into context. The Tarot is a storyboard, and the three cards drawn will tell the story that the Seeker is experiencing.

The question that the Seeker asks is: “Should I accept the promotion that has just been offered to me?”

The cards drawn were:

Past – Ace of Wands

Present – The Lovers

Future – Ten of Swords

The cards were laid out in a linear fashion, from right to left:

Ace of Wands - The Lovers - Ten of Swords

In the past, the Seeker was offered an opportunity for advancement in career. There was a great deal of excitement over this opportunity, as it offered the Seeker not only opportunities for growth, but the opportunity to access their own creativity. They were empowered by the ability to make this choice.

Their choice was to accept the opportunity, and they are very happy where they currently are. Their work environment is very harmonious, allowing them to be open and trusting of the people that they work with. They have a connection with the work they are currently doing, and they feel that they are making a difference.

If they were to accept the promotion they are being offered, they would feel that they had lost everything that they gained when they moved into their current position. They would... Read More

The Othersiders

All I can say is – the Cartoon Network is nothing like I thought it would be! I just got done watching “Othersiders” for the first time – what a show! Definitely not a cartoon. The premise of this show is that a team of teenagers goes out each week to explore a site known to have paranormal activity. They job to to try and prove (or disprove) that such activity is going on.

This is a very well organized team, each with their own function. KC is the case manager, and has the final decision on which site they will be investigating. Riley is the lead investigator. Zack is the tech manager (and a very good one!). Jackie is in charge of research (so they know what they are walking into, and if it is worth spending time on). Sam is the web master – at the end of each show the results of the investigation are posted on the show’s website.

The aim of the team is to choose the most credible site to investigate each week. This week they investigated the Lincoln Heights Jail – a building that has been abandoned for over fifty years. The first thing that the team does is to create a base camp – a safe place that is central to all reported paranormal activity. Cameras are set up in places where paranormal activity has been reported.

Part of the activity that has been reported is doors opening and closing by themselves. The area of solitary confinement is the first place that they investigate. One of the techniques that they use to check for activity is “call and response” – they ask a simple question, and wait for any type of response from energies in the area.

One of the interesting things that happened was that a chair moved – on its own. It moved one time, and then remained stationary. Another happening was the flash of a person running down the hall that... Read More

I absolutely adore Nicki Scully’s work, and her “Power Animal Meditations” (Bear & Company) does not disappoint. I have attended some of Nicki’s teleclasses, and know that she is respectful of herself, her students, and the material that she is working with. She has a deep connection with the modality of healing and spirituality, and that certainly shines through in this book.

In “Power Animal Meditations” Nicki brings together the power and magic of the animal world with the power and magic of the world of the Egyptian pantheon. The meditations act to bring the reader to a point where they can create a conscious relationship with totemic beings – a relationship of mutual respect and powerful inner growth. It is also the story of how to live in harmony with all things.

The journeys in this book are for specific purposes. They are as follows:

Foundation Journey’s:

Vulture & Crone – Intuitive Wisdom

What a great show! Famous politician shot three times. Jane talks bystander into handing over valet parking ticket belonging to the victim – a bystander in full Marilyn Monroe getup! Drugs found in the victims car – wife denies that they could be his. Wife is an actress, by the way!

Hmmm It seems that the dead man wanted to withdraw his financial support from a movie that his wife was starring in. The director of the movie is someone who has had his own issues in the past, and needs this movie to do well to resurrect his career. Said director is also quite a control freak – and has his own drug issues. Or … do the drugs actually belong to the director’s manager.

Whatever the case, the manager does give up the name of the drug source. I do not have anything good to say about drug use – but the character of the drug source here was incredibly well played! He seemed like a well balanced business person!

It seems as if both the wife of the dead man and his daughter are working in the film thathe wanted to withdraw his support of. The wife in a starring role, the daughter in a supporting role. While interviewing the wife and daughter, two things happen. Jane remarks that the dead husband does not seem the type of man that the wife would be attracted to – that she is more the “bad boy” type. And … a picture of a “bad boy” type falls out of the daughter’s purse. Hmmmmm …

The drug dealer is busted – and his client is the daughter! It seems that her boyfriend has introduced her to drugs. It also seems that her father was very upset about her drug use. The drugs found in his car actually belonged to his daughter.

Jane feels that the errant boyfriend (who has disappeared) will be showing up at the mother and stepdaughter’s house. A stakeout is instituted,... Read More

“Vibrational Healing Through the Chakras”, by Joy Gardner (Crossing Press) focuses on the healing powers of light and sound, as well as crystals and aromatherapy, and the ways that these powers can be used to heal through the chakra system (the seven energy centers that run along our spine). This information in this book is very practical information, easy to put to use in real life. It is an excellent tool for helping us to improve our own health and well being.

Gardner gives a very good overview of the chakras and the human energy field, of the colors connected with the chakras, and with learning how to open and close each chakra. She discusses diagnosing through the chakras, how we can feel our own chakras, and Vibrational Alignment ™, the specific technique that she herself developed through working with her clients.

An entire chapter is devoted to light, color, and frequencies – some of which are visible to the naked eye, some of which are not. For me, the information on color and vibration was intriguing. Systems such as Feng Shui use color as an important element of their foundation. Those who work with Elemental Energy will recognize the power of color, as will those who work with personal power, where the colors in our environment, and the choice of color in the cloths that we wear, can enhance or detract from our energy. Psychic healing is another area where color is used to affect positive change.

What I really like about this book is the depth of background information on each of the healing modalities, the use of graphics (it is often easier to convey something through the use of a graph, rather than through text), and the inclusion of personal experiences, as well as client experiences.

Gardner talks about the use of color charged water, which colors to use where on the face to heal, and how to use color in our daily life. I have a personal interest in chanting and healing... Read More
